Summary[edit]

Description

Looking west-northwest from the Washington Monument in 1965. The Reflecting Pool and Lincoln Memorial are on the left edge. The Theodore Roosevelt Bridge across the Potomac River, Theodore Roosevelt Island, and the Rosslyn section of Arlington are in the center background. Vifginia Avenue is at the right edge of the photo. Key Bridge, between Georgetown and Rosslyn, is in the right background.

The Temporary Buildings for the Navy and Army are in the foreground. They were built in 1918, and not demolished until 1970. The first group is Main Navy. Beyond it is the Munitions Building, which was occupied by the Army until the Pentagon was completed in 1943.
