Nederlands: Bioscoopjournaals waarin Nederlandse onderwerpen van een bepaalde week worden gepresenteerd.; Tgv het 60-jarig bestaan van gebouw "Carré" te Amsterdam is een jubileum circusvoorstelling georganiseerd. De kijker wordt een indruk gegeven van de voorbereidingen die - achter de schermen - aan zo'n voorstelling voorafgaan. SHOTS: - ext. van het gemeentearchief van Amsterdam aan de Amstel; - archivaris pakt het dossier van gebouw Carré en opent het; voegt er een document aan toe en legt het weer af; - aan de hand van documenten, afbeeldingen, foto's, affiches; programmaboekjes ed wordt voor de kijkers in het kort de geschiedenis van gebouw Carré in beeld gebracht; - ext. Carré; - shots van de voorbereidingen: ezels, paarden en tijgers worden verzorgd of gevoed; acrobaten oefenen hun nummer (oa een klein meisje op een evenwichtsbalk); dompteurs oefenen (één met een gemuilkorfde beer, een ander met paarden in de piste); schoonmaaksters reinigen de tribunes en halen stofkappen van de stoelen; vlak vóór de voorstelling worden de paarden opgetuigd; - circusvoorstelling met geamuseerd publiek: acrobaten op paarden; clowns; evenwichtskunstenaars op het slappe koord.
English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.; A jubilee circus show has been organised on the occasion of the 60 years existence of the building "Carré" in Amsterdam. The viewer is given an impression of the preparations - behind the scenes - which proceed such a show. SHOTS: - ext. of the municipal archive of Amsterdam along the Amstel; - archivist gets the file of the building Carré and opens it; adds a document and puts it back; - with documents, pictures, photos, posters, program booklets etc. the history of the building Carré is presented to the viewers in short; - ext. Carré; - shots of the preparations: donkeys, horses and tigers are cared for and fed; acrobats practice their routine (a.o. a little girl on a balance beam); animal trainers practicing (one with a muzzled bear, another with horses in the arena); cleaners clean the stands and remove the dust covers from the chairs; right before the show teh horses are harnessed; - circus show with an amused audience: acrobats on horses; clowns; equilibrists on the slackwire.
