Summary[edit]

Description
English: Rat brain ciliated ependymal cells after incubation in tissue culture medium 199 for three hours (negative control). A slow motion video of beating cilia on ependymal cells. Note the distance travelled by the tip of each cilium; this is the ciliary amplitude. For all videos the beating cilia were recorded (32x objective) using a troubleshooter 1000 high speed video camera (Lake Image Systems Ltd, UK) at 500 frames per second. Video sequences were played back at a reduced frame rate. For viewing the AVI files, MiDAS 4.0 player software should be used (http://www.xcitex.com/html/downloads.php).
