| Description |
English: Swordfish on Hornsea Mere, Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The Swordfish class has been an central element of Hornsea Sailing Club for over forty years and for many of the club's top helmsmen it was the class that they first started to race seriously in. Unfortunately, due to age, the number of Swordfish at the club has decreased over recent years. Originally designed by Uffa Fox as the standard 'middle sized' national dinghy class, it was eclipsed by the Albacore which inherited many of its design features from the Swordfish. It is renowned as a stable and safe boat, having a 75lb centre plate that makes it more docile than many lighter dinghies. Swordfish are also raced at the West Riding and Trent sailing clubs.
