| Description |
English: Strangeways East Junction The London & North Western Railway (LNWR) opened its Wigan to Manchester line via Atherton and Tyldesley in 1864. The line closed as a through route in 1969. A connection was made with the Great Central line (1884-1967) to Wigan Central station at Bickershaw Junction / Strangeways East Junction. This view is towards what would have been Strangeways East Junction and the connection with the Great Central line. Taken from the LNWR route on the over bridge. |
