  • Sophia Nikitina was a young girl attending school in Kiev when she was banished as an administrative exile to Eastern Siberia. Having traveled approximately 3000 miles of her journey, she contracted typhus in one of the etapes. Forced to continue her journey, she died in Achinsk prison.
