Motivbeskrivning: Andra slaget vid Femern 1644.

Historik: Svenska flottans historia: Sjöslaget vid Femernbält 1644 är ämnet för denna troligen ungefär samtida oljemålning av okänd konstnär (på styrbords låring på båten i förgrunden läser man signaturen I.F.D.V.), som emellertid till största delen begagnat sig av ett holländskt kopparstick (av C.I. Visscher) som förlaga. Gruppen i förgrunden består av Smålands Lejon, som söker lägga ombord med danska Patientia, medan tätt intill en brännare sätter eld på danska Lindormen. Längst till höger upprepas detsamma med ännu ett danskt skepp. Enl. tradition skall tavlan vara en samtida sak. Se sjöh. M. ank. 168/40. Sannolikt utförd av Jan van de Velde f. 1620, son till kopparstickaren med samma förnamn, f. 1595, död 1642.
