Each agent is represented by a circle of radius 2.5mm, distinguished by a random colour; its radial line shows the forward direction. Animation is approximately 5 times faster than simulated time. Shelters are shown in grey. The choice of winning shelter emerges from local interactions between agents. Note that aggregation permits unrealistic overlap between agents since physical dispersal is not modelled, although stacking does occur in real life, as discussed further in the main article. |
