English: Capacitance signals from a touch sensing capacitance array, are very small and are influenced by a wide range of environmental factors , some of which may be larger than the touch signal to be detected. Many of these factors, such as temperature and humidity, are global and so affect the whole array. Others, like dirt build up, may be local, slow and long lasting . In order to distinguish a finger touch from amongst these other variable, some simple form of Artificial Intelligence is required . The diagram shows a simple diagram of the AI logic used that enables Projected Capacitance technology to function under such circumstances.
