English: A Shaw Motorbike (c. 1912) on display at the Tellus Science Museum near Cartersville, Georgia. The motorbike was produced by the Shaw Manufacturing Company of Galesburg, Kansas, which produced engine kits between 1903 and 1917 that would convert a bicycle to a motorbike. Its engine is a 1 cylinder 4-stroke gasoline with a displacement of 240 cc and an output of 2.5 hp. It is capable of top speeds of 35 mph and had a fuel efficiency of up to 125 miles per gallon. The model on display includes an optional headlamp and odometer. |
