English: Shadow Man shadow on Seven Castles rock formations in the Frying Pan Valley, July 2022, Colorado, USA

The unusual phenomenon occurs during sunny afternoons in mid-summer when sunlight streams down over rocks along the rim, creating a shadow that resembles the silhouette of a bearded man.

The "Seven Castles", seven large outcroppings of red sandstone that resemble medieval castles, are located along the Frying Pan River near the town of Basalt.
