Title
Seattle Country Club, ca. 1907
Description

Location and identity of the country club depicted is unclear. The postcard possibly shows the Seattle Golf Club (then called the Seattle Golf and Country Club) which moved from a location near Gasworks Park to Laurelhurst in 1904. In 1908 the club moved to their current location on Richmond Beach Road and changed their name to Seattle Golf Club.

Kipp Johnson, current (as of 2022) general manager of the Seattle Gold Club writes, "I don't recognize that building at all and don't show it anywhere in our archives. It doesn't appear to fit the terrain of our current location, unless its location is directly north or south of our current clubhouse, but the stairs on the left of the building wouldn't make sense in that case. Our Superintendent's home was located on our Laurelhurst course, but it was a large white house that is still there today. If you look at the original photo of our clubhouse, it is the house back and to the left of it."
