English: The Seattle Golf Club began in 1900 with a 5-hole course roughly where Gas Works Park stands today; later that year they leased a property in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, which they would eventually purchase. The first 6 holes opened at Laurelhurst September 6, 1901; 3 more were eventually added before the decision to move to a larger facility in Shoreline, Washington, just north of the city. Property there was purchased April 4, 1907, and the present golf course opened there June 12, 1909.
