English: Circular letter from the Third Reich stating Germany will from now on use the Antiqua typography (taken from Yves Perrousseaux, Histoire de l'écriture typographique - de Gutenberg au XVIIe siècle). The legend from the the source (Perrousseaux) states: "Fig. 172. Décret nazi bannissant l’écriture Schwabacher comme « caractères juifs ». 3 janvier 1941. C’est curieux qu’un texte aussi stupide puisse figurer sur un papier à lettres dont l’entête est typographié en caractères gothiques!" ("Fig. 172. Nazi decree banning Schwabacher writing as "Jewish sorts". January 3, 1941. It is curious that such a stupid text could appear on a stationery with a letterhead typed in Gothic sorts!"). I also have the paper version of the book, and the circulare letter in this version looks the same as in the PDF version. |
