SABA Germany factory radio set manufacturing workshop circa 1934

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Broadcast receiver production line. The majority of the staff are female. The frames are arranged horizontally on two slides. The workshop is well lit by large windows and electric lights. On the other hand, tripod chairs are not very comfortable and they have no backrest. The building is modern and it was constructed in reinforced concrete. The wiring is traditional with wires soldered to lugs fixed to a tinned iron frame: We see the soldering irons. Circuit boards have not yet been invented...
Français : Chaîne de fabrication de récepteurs de radiodiffusion. La majorité du personnel est féminin. Les châssis sont disposés horizontalement sur deux glissières. L'atelier est bien éclairé par de larges fenêtres et par des luminaires électriques. Par contre les chaises à trépied sont peu confortables et elles n'ont pas de dossier. Le bâtiment est moderne et il a été construit en béton armé. Le câblage est traditionnel avec des fils soudés sur des cosses fixées sur un châssis en fer étamé : On voit les fers à souder. Les circuits imprimés n'ont pas encore été inventés...

This photo comes from the archives of the SABA company which were dispersed in 1945 at the end of the second world war and which had been recovered by a French prisoner who was employed in this factory
