Summary[edit]
DescriptionRemains of Drumcross Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery - geograph.org.uk - 1240994.jpg |
English: Remains of Drumcross Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery This heavy anti-aircraft battery was one of a series built following the heavy bombing raids on Glasgow in 1941. Built to provide protection against bombers, it would have been armed with 3.7" or 4.5" guns. The cube-like structures shown here have the remains of shelves, probably to store ammunition. This is one of the gun emplacements, and the gun would be mounted in the foreground.
On site, there are remains of four emplacements, a command post, workships, stores and magazines. Originally, there were about 40 buildings on site. |
