English: Literacy campaign in Ecuador Alphabet matches. Even a matchbox can help to promote literacy. These are used as teaching aids in Ecuador. On each is the picture of an object, its name and the first letter of the name e as in escoba (broom) ; l an in luna (moon) and so on. Thus an illiterate is able to proceed from the image to the world without difficulty.
Français : Campagne contre l'analphabétisme en Equateur Les Allumettes de l'alphabet. Un objet d'usage quotidien, la boîte d'allumettes, se révèle un auxiliaire précieux dans les campagnes d'alphabétisation en Equateur. Chaque boîte est ornée d'une image liée à une lettre de l'alphabet l comme luna (lune) ; e comme escoba (balai) etc... De l'image à la lettre l'adulte peut s'exercer sans cesse à la lecture.
