Dr. P. Kanagasabapathi is a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, He is an author and writer with academic backgrounds. Involved in the activities of public and service organizations for many years, he was associated with the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch holding different responsibilities, including as a member of its All India Working Committee. During 1997-2001, he had served as the President of an agricultural cooperative bank in Coimbatore District, after being elected unanimously.

Presently he is a state Vice President of the BJP, Tamil Nadu. Earlier he was holding responsibilities such as the official spokesperson and the state President of the Intellectual Cell. He was also a part of the state election management team and the manifesto committee during different elections since 2016.

Prof Kanagasabapathi is widely known for his India-centric research works and pioneering field studies in different industrial and business clusters across the country. He has been involved in studying the Indian economic, social, business and management systems from the native Indian perspectives. He was a key member of the team that undertook the study of the Gujarat Kite Industry on the invitation of the state Government during 2003-04. After obtaining a doctorate in finance as a UGC Research Fellow, he had a brief stint in the stock markets. Soon he entered academics and has taught in colleges and universities for more than two decades. He was the Director of the Tamil Nadu Institute of Urban Studies, the state-level research and training institute promoted by the State Government.

He writes in Tamil and English and has written five books and a number of papers/ articles/ columns in different publications, including the leading Tamil dailies. His book entitled Indian Models of Economy, Business and Management is considered a major initiative towards Indianising the economics and management education in our country. It has been recommended as a text/reference in the reputed institutions at the national level such as the Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and Jawaharlal University, New Delhi. He has also written for the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

One of his other books “Prosperous India” is being translated into different Indian languages, including Hindi. His book பாரதப் பொருளாதாரம் – அன்றும் இன்றும் is recognized as the first work in Tamil that presents the history of the Indian economy and business from the Indian point of view. His other Tamil book வலுவான குடும்பம் வளமான இந்தியா narrates as to how the families, societies and culture remain the basis of the Indian economy. He has been associated with different central/ state universities and research bodies at the national/regional levels in various capacities such as member of the Governing Board/ Executive Council/ Court/ Syndicate. He had also served in different committees of the central and state Governments. He was an Independent Director in the Shipping Corporation of India, Mumbai.

He pursed law course after completing Ph.D, and earned a bachelor’s degree. He is the Director of the Indian Economic and Cultural Centre and has been the Vice President of Deshabhaktha, Coimbatore.
