Français : Cette effigie de l'archiduc Ferdinand de Habsbourg, frère cadet de l'empereur Charles Quint, représenté avec une grande simplicité dans sa tenue, à l'exception du lourd collier de l'ordre de la Toison d'or, existe en trois versions différentes avec une attribution traditionnelle à Hans Maler : l'une est conservée au Kunsthistorisches Museum de Vienne, la seconde se trouve dans les collections du musée de Dessau et la troisième est celle que nous présentons ici. Si le tableau de Dessau porte la même inscription avec la date de 1521 que le nôtre, le portrait de Vienne n'en comporte aucune. La date de 1521 semble tout à fait correspondre et il est probable que ce portrait du jeune archiduc ait été diffusé cette même année, à l'occasion de son mariage avec Anne Jagellon, fille du roi de Hongrie et de Bohême.
