Summary[edit]
DescriptionPhrypeus rickseckeri (Hayward) - ZooKeys-245-001-g023.jpeg |
English: Phrypeus rickseckeri (Hayward). Thomas Casey is well known to North American coleopterists for the numerous species he proposed that are considered invalid today. His extremely rigid species concept allowed almost no morphological variation. He was, however, more successful at the generic level and many of his taxa are still recognized as valid today. One of these is Phrypeus which he proposed for a small, peculiar bembidiine species living along river banks in the coastal region of western North America. Associated with the subtribe Bembidiina for a long time, recent molecular analyses have revealed that the species is not closely related to that group. |
