One of "Slingshot Guy" Steve Jones' marbles (from the Delaveaga Disc Golf course)

Summary[edit]

Description
English: So here's a serendipitious little story.

I've been visiting the Delaveaga Disc Golf course in Santa Cruz, since moving to California in 2005; it's a beautiful place.

[ For the uninitiated, disc golf is like regular golf except with frisbee-like things - and yes, there are drivers, midranges and putters. ]

Perhaps a year or two ago, I was out at the course and found this marble out on one of the holes stuck partially in the dirt. I thought it was interesting that a marble would be out this way and figured there must have been some story to it, some reason it was there - so I kept it in my disc golf bag. You know, good luck and all that.

I was recently at the disc golf course again, and while looking up info on the web site, I found this tribute to a former resident (passed in 2011, RIP) who would use a slingshot and marbles to dislodge discs stuck high up in trees. Well I'll be darned; a year or two later, here was the answer to my marble story.

Thanks to the kind folks who work on and maintain the course, and my respects to "Slingshot" Steve Jones and his family.
