Om het lange afstandskampioenschap van de Amstel, Njord de snelste van de 21 achten; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 13 uit 1949.; Op de Amstel te Amsterdam wordt de jaarlijkse roeiwedstrijd Head of the River gehouden tussen div. roeiploegen heren acht met stuur. De ploeg van Njord wint. SHOTS: - met tussenpozen van vijftien seconden starten de deelnemende equipes in Ouderkerk; - div. shots van de roeiers tijdens de wedstrijd op de rivier; - supporters rijden langs de oevers mee per fiets, auto of autobus; - passage Berlagebrug en finish in Amsterdam.
