Summary[edit]

Description
English: 24 hour simulation of the New York City subway system (MTA trains only).

The New York City Subway system has 421 stations and a total line length of 321km making it the largest system in America and #4 worldwide.

Each bullet in the simulation represents a train. Displayed is typical Tuesday traffic without service disruptions in the pre-Sandy era (timetable data from 2012; 1 to South Ferry; R tunnel open; normal Rockaway service).

Diamond 6 and 7 services are displayed in round signets.

The traincount displayed at the bottom shows how many trains are in service at one time in the whole system: This is a minimum number of actual real trains, because trains reversing and waiting for their next trip at their respective terminal stations are neither displayed nor counted.

Thanks to the MTA for making their timetable data availible to the public.
