This is a photo of a monument indexed in the Spanish heritage register of Bienes de Interés Cultural under the reference RI-51-0004307.

Description
English: Main gate of church of San Pelayo in Arenillas de San Pelayo (Palencia, Castile and León). It is the splendid rest of whatever monastery "Dotado en 1132 por los familiares de Muño de Saldaña, que lo hicieron libre en 1159 y que pasó en 1168 a los premostratenses de Retuerta”. In spite of the successive remodelings has been suffering since the beginning of his career, this temple retains an elegant style still airy and proportionate distribution of their volumes. Contributes to this finding is exempt Southeast of the hamlet. Currently meets parish church and local cemetery, which is located at the header of the same functions.

Spotlight your global doneness are the header and the portico. Seat, is composed of three apses, taller and proportion central and on the sides of minors, two added chapels comprising an elegant way to false cruise together. The header is plastered protecting the brick. The central apse is smooth, except for a central band that we have a profusion of intermingled decorative and functional elements: three elongated dept and blinded Windows - which in turn would bring light to the interior - are arranged at regular intervals. Between them and in succession 1-3 - 3-1, other smaller in height the same doneness, blind from source, complete the bottom of the decoration. On it, and at regular intervals, 10 vain blind rectangular and rehundidos, with the same style of apparently are arranged in succession 1-4 - 4-1, separated by the upper area of the elongated Windows and tresbolillados to the lower elements. Late era opened a large window square on the North by removing some of the vain described (two of the upper and one lower apart from the north side window) side. A succession of smooth canecillos underpin the cornice.

This decorative style of the central apse is characteristic do the Valdavia area mudéjar, and certainly that under the stucco header will be another copy of the "brick Romanesque". The smaller apses focused by spilled window are located on both sides.
Español: Portada de la iglesia de San Pelayo en Arenillas de San Pelayo (Palencia, Castilla y León). Es el espléndido resto de lo que fuera monasterio "Dotado en 1132 por los familiares de Muño de Saldaña, que lo hicieron libre en 1159 y que pasó en 1168 a los premostratenses de Retuerta”. A pesar de las sucesivas remodelaciones que ha debido de sufrir desde el inicio de su andadura, este templo conserva un elegante estilo siendo la distribución de sus volúmenes airosa y proporcionada. A ello contribuye el hallarse exento al sureste del caserío. Cumple en la actualidad funciones de iglesia parroquial y cementerio local, que se ubica ante la cabecera del mismo.

Lo más destacado de su hechura global son la cabecera y el pórtico. La cabecera, se compone de tres ábsides, de mayor altura y proporción el central y a los lados de los menores, sendas capillas añadidas que configuran en conjunto una elegante forma de falso crucero. Toda la cabecera se halla enfoscada protegiendo el ladrillo. El ábside central es liso, a excepción de una banda central en la que hayamos una profusión de elementos decorativos y funcionales entremezclados: Tres alargados ventanales rehundidos y cegados -que en su momento debieron de aportar luz al interior- se disponen a intervalos regulares. Entre ellos y en sucesión 1-3-3-1, otros más pequeños en altura de la misma hechura, ciegos desde origen, completan la zona inferior de la decoración. Sobre ella, y a intervalos regulares, 10 vanos ciegos rectangulares y rehundidos, con el mismo estilo de lo visto se disponen en sucesión 1-4-4-1, separados por la zona superior de los alargados ventanales y tresbolillados con respecto a los elementos inferiores. En época tardía se abrió un gran ventanal cuadrado en el lado norte eliminando algunos de los vanos descritos (dos de los superiores y uno inferior además del ventanal del lado norte). Una sucesión de canecillos lisos sustentan la cornisa.

Este estilo decorativo del ábside central es característico del hacer mudéjar de la zona de la Valdavia, y a buen seguro que bajo el enfoscado de la cabecera se hallará otro ejemplar del "románico de ladrillo". A ambos lados se sitúan los ábsides menores, centrados por ventanal derramado.
