Preliminary note (p. [2]) dated "Lititz, Mart. 12, 1778." Brown was stationed at the army hospital at Lititz, Pa., and was physician-general of the Middle Department of the Continental Army. The work is sometimes cited as the Lititz Pharmacopoeia
