| Description |
Deutsch: Die Marienkapelle ist ein gotischer Kirchenbau in Würzburg auf dem unteren Markt. Erbaut wurde sie von Bürgern der Stadt auf den Überresten einer jüdischen Synagogen ab dem Jahre 1377. Die Bauzeit betrug etwa 100 Jahre. Im zweiten Weltkrieg brannte das Gebäude bei der Bombardierung von Würzburg vollständig aus und ist heute im Inneren modern eingerichtet. Bei der großen Kirche handelt es sich nach katholischem Kirchenrecht um eine Kapelle, da die Würzburger Bischöfe der Bürgerkirche keine Pfarreirechte verliehen haben. |
