St. Mel's Cathedral, Longford, County Longford, Ireland English: Fourteenth station of the Cross where Jesus is laid in the tomb, bas-relief sculpture carved by the Cork sculptor Ken Thompson from Bath stone panels, 55 × 46 inches and 3½ inches thick, with its background painted in blue, the halos gilded, and the classical Roman lettering set in terracotta. Inscription: “Why seek you the living among the dead” in reference to Luke 24:5.
