| Description |
English: Lane on Marston Field, looking towards Tockwith Road, Long Marston This lane bisects a field that is ploughed and weathered to the left (West) and has young cereal crops to the right (east). Marston Field, south of Tockwith Road was the area where the Allied Forces (English Parliamentary and Scottish) formed to face the Royalist Forces, who assembled to the North of the Tockith Road prior to the Battle of Marston Moor in the English Civil War. The top of the stone memorial to the battle (marked as an obelisk on OS maps) can be on the near horizon of Marston Field. |
