Summary[edit]

Description

Länsresidenset or Landshövdingeresidenset, the county governor's house or residence is the yellow house to the right. – More information about the administrative counties of Sweden can be found in these two articles: en:County Administrative Boards of Sweden and en:Län). – This house is also traditionally called Torstensonska palatset - "the Torstenson Palace", after the Nobleman Lennart Torstenson who originally owned it.

The grey house to the left was originally an administrative building belonging to the County Administrative Board in Swedish länsstyrelsen. It is called Landsstatshuset after the fiscal name of the Board, landsstaten.

The two houses stand next to Stora Hamnkanalen (literally: "The Main Harbour (or Haven) Canal") the main city canal in Göthenburg/Göteborg, near its mouth into the river Göta älv.
