R.P. Hunt Esq.
Dear Sir
We are in receipt of your favor with [memo?] of 5 Bales sent to Albany S.C.&M – We sent them a bill yesterday of ten bales nos 261 to 270 and we presumed you would send them these numbers – If not please let is know.
We have today sold 25 bales at 7 ¾ which takes all up to 281 –We sent today by boat via Albany 15 Bales of Cotton marked to go by Railway as we suppose there would not be time to send by Canal – 11 ¼ the price –
Please let us know how much more will be required to run to the 10th of May which we suppose is what you would desire – We enclose herein Bill of Josiah Macy [illegible] for Oil which went on the 18th

It is my intention to be with you on the 4th [prox?] – My wife has been seriously ill with Scarlet fever for some days, but is now comfortable and doing well - Should she recover her strength in time a little journy would benefit her and I shall urge her to leave her children and accompany me on my trip - In the mean time I am very truly yours Joseph W. Patterson"
