Description
English: A window to the past. Which lets the beholder look straight into 18th-century life and salons. That is how Pehr Hilleström’s imagery could be described. Here, he shows us what an interior at an art collector’s home could have been like. He is obviously a wealthy person, who has been able to create a real gallery for his paintings and sculptures. A woman is seated at the table drawing one of the sculptures. Among the upper classes in the 18th century, learning to draw was almost as important as learning to read.
