Description
English: Hopfer, Daniel (ca 1470-1536): Parable of the industrious and the indolent, the righteous and the wicked (Illustration to Proverbs 10:4-7). Etching dated 1534 with 4 illustrations on 2 rows. Holl. 5/ii. With monogram, Roman date, Biblical texts and the Funck number "63" on the plate. Watermark: Crowned shield with three double circles. 21.2 x 28.4 cm. Slightly browned and slightly stained.

4. He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. 5. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. 6. Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7. The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
