INTERIOR, LOOKING SOUTHEAST - St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 4502 Cassin Drive, Anchorage, Anchorage, AK
Title
INTERIOR, LOOKING SOUTHEAST - St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 4502 Cassin Drive, Anchorage, Anchorage, AK
Description
This is the church's original sanctuary. Below is a fellowship hall named in honor of George B. Pillsbury, a U.S. Army general who served as the first chief engineer of the Alaska Road Commission. The parish has since built a new sanctuary and fellowship hall immediately to the south of this structure. This older sanctuary is used today as a chapel, with the older fellowship hall used to support various twelve-step program groups and church services of smaller congregations.
