Summary[edit]

Description
English: Hotel Astor (largest building); to its right, Astor Theatre on the northwest corner of Broadway and 45th Street; to its right, the Gaiety Building.

Astor theatre billboards and marquee announce Paid in Full, which played there from February 25 to August 15, 1908.

  • "Paid in Full an Effective Play", The New York Times, February 26, 1908
  • Advertisement for Astor Theatre, New-York Daily Tribune, Wednesday, August 12, 1908, p. 12, col. 3. (Paid in Full closed at the Astor August 15, 1908, and opened at Weber's Theatre Monday, August 17, 1908. William Hodge in The Man From Home opened at the Astor August 17, 1908.)

Left to right starting from the 45th Street corner of the theatre: the Times Square Branch of the Mechanics & Traders' Bank, a United Cigar store, the entrance (partly obscured by the marquee) to the Astor Theatre Building offices; and in the Gaiety Building: Mackintosh (florist), The Ansonia Mens Shop, Sartoris (jeweler), and an optician whose awning advertises Kodak optical goods.
A man is working outside a third-story window of the theatre.
The Astor Roof Garden is visible.
In the distance (at left) is Hammerstein's Victoria Theatre, on the northwest corner of 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, and (further left), the Hermitage Hotel, on the west side of 7th Avenue between 41st Street and 42nd Street. Still further left, a rooftop sign reads, "Hotel Navarre".
