Description
English: Greenwich Hospital

An early 19th-century view of the buildings of Greenwich Hospital from the Thames, from the Isle of Dogs. The Royal Observatory is visible in the distance between the two domes. The crowded river scene includes a variety of river craft such as barges, as well as yachts, rowing boats and small ships. The identity of the artist is not known. Although it was traditionally attributed to a Samuel Scott, this is not by the important mid-18th-century painter of the same name.
