Il panno alla greca allude alla tradizione iconografica del Lamento di Achille per la morte di Patroclo, tuttavia l'ambientazione richiama più direttamente il compianto per Turiddu nella Cavalleria rusticana (1890).
  • English: Wilhelm von Gloeden (1856–1931). Tragic scene. Catalogue number: 1208, cm 16,8x22,4. The classical rag hints at the tradition of Achille's lament for Patroclus, however the setting more directly resembles the lament for Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana (1890).
