Try to look past the debris left by those who have attempted to find dubious shelter in the bridge gearbox. Electric motors to the right and left of this photo are connected by shafts to this system of gears, which then transmits power through shafts to gears that rotate the pinions, moving the racks, raising and lowering the bridge. |
