Description
English: Bronze Doors to the Grand Temple (exterior), Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, London. 1933. Each door was cast in one piece 12ft. by 4 ft. weighing 1.25 tons. Elements of the design include stylised renderings of the building of the Jerusalem Temple. This photo shows a detail from the left centre panel: the stone conveyed by oxen to Jerusalem. Conception and design by Walter Gilbert (a Freemason), modelling by Donald Gilbert and bronze casting by H. H. Martyn of Cheltenham. Photo by Phillip Medhurst. Metalwork 1933.
