Summary[edit]

Description
English: Supplementary Movie 10 MVs are formed through curling of membrane fragments produced by explosive cell lysis. A P. aeruginosa PAK biofilm cultured on media containing the lipid stain FM1-43FX was imaged using f3D-SIM (DeltaVision OMX Blaze). A single rod cell transitions to a round-shaped cell and explodes (left panel). A magnified view of the boxed area (right panel) shows the release of shattered membrane fragments which curl and vesicularise into MVs. These newly formed MVs then come to rest on the surface of a neighboring cell. Time is shown in bottom right corner in seconds and milliseconds.
