“New York Sept 27th 1828
Friend Richard
The Balance of your flour arrived on the 24th and was next day sold at $6 7/8 The [illegible] is now delivering the last of it we have not ascertained the exact quantity but believe it is 212 Bbls sweet & 27 Bbls Bad in all 239 Bbls We consider the Sale a very fortunate one, at least we could not now obtain the same price. Ely and other first rate brands fresh ground are offered at 7 Dolls – We ordered it on 12th ult and had it arrived on Saturday last we would have got 7 Dolls Since that time the market has gradually become duller, and we are confident that without the rise of foreign demand the present prices will not be supported To the south the crop though not abundant is fair and very large supplies are arriving form that quarter
