“New York May 3 1828
Friend Richard
We sold your flour yesterday to JP Whittlesy at 44/6 the quantity 371 bbls all Superfine. We held it at 5/8 and tried most of the Flour dealers and hence but one offer of the same pice for 100 bbls. As the Captain would retain it on board no longer we were [under?] the neccessity of either selling or storing. We have heard of no sales except of fancy Brands over the price we sold at, and [J P Phenix?] informed me that he sold yesterday at 44/– We called on several grocers but found we could retail at present but a small quantity and that not over 5/8 We unable to do better than sell payable on the 12th inst
