“N York Novbr 21st 1829
Esteemed Friend
We recved yesterday fr genl Trotter 162 Bbls Flour 69 of which we have sold to a customer of ours (a Baker) at 4 5/6 and one bbl being wet, had no doubt been in the canal sold for $4 ½ – The remaining 92 Bbls we have stored thinking it more to your interest than to sell at the present market price – we could not obtain from Flour merchants over $5 ½ - Lee sold 100 Bbls at 5 ½ the balance at 5 40/100 Your last parcell of 50 Bbls arrived during a very depressed state of the market and would have been stored had we anticipated the small quantity we were to receive this fall – They were sold as pr statement below The lot would not bring over 4 2/6 300 Bbls of Ely’s brand were sold on the 3d Nov @ 4 2/ -
