Description
日本語: この土偶は、1936年、新潟県長岡市の馬高遺跡で火焔土器・大形石棒とともに発見されたと伝わる。高さ18㎝。国指定重要文化財。新潟県域を中心に分布する河童形土偶の一つで、頭頂部が皿状にくぼむ。その端正な顔立ちから「ミス馬高」と呼ばれている。
English: This clay figurine (dogū) from Umataka,Nagaoka city,Niigata prefecture in 1936.It is said that it was excavated with the fist flame pot (Kaen Doki) and Large stone rod (sekibō). Height 18 cm. Important Cultural Properties. It is kind of Kappa’s head shape clay figurine (Kappa-gata dogū) that was distributed around Niigata prefecture area, the crown of head is concave like a plate(Kappa is Japanese river imp). It is called “Miss Umataka” due to its neat appearance.
