Most of the plates are signed by Giambattista Piranesi, with the exception of the title page and plates XVI, XIX, and XX, which are signed by his son Francesco Piranesi
Engravings printed on recto only, each with a tissue guard-leaf
Bound in red half morocco over marbled boards by Jean-Joseph Tessier in Paris, between 1800-1807; Tessier's label (affixed to front pastedown) reads: "Rue de la Harpe, Au-dessus de celle de Médecine, no. 132; Tessier/ Relieur et doureur/ De la Trésorerie nationale du Bureau/ de la Guerre/ et Calcographie piranesi/ A Paris"; spine divided into eight compartments decorated with gold-tooled designs; blue endpapers
