Summary[edit]

Description
English: David Hume's tomb, Old Calton Burying Ground He may have earned the epithet 'the Great Atheist' from critics during his lifetime, but David Hume, regarded as one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived, still ended up in a Christian cemetery. His friends kept an eight-night vigil over his grave in order to deter grave-robbers from 'resurrecting' the fresh corpse.
