Description
Deutsch: Kryolith
Sichtfeld: 1,4 × 1,5 mm
Fundort: Steinbruch Poudrette, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Kanada
Beschreibung: Gefunden im August 1997. Kryolith ist bei MSH selten. Große Kristalle sind oft stark beschichtet und sehen undurchsichtig aus (obwohl sie normalerweise innen transparent sind). Kleine pseudooktaedrische Kristalle sind relativ scharf und manchmal transparent. Dieser Kristall fluoresziert blassblau-weiß (SW), was typisch für MSH-Kryolith ist. (Er ist jedoch sehr klein, und mein Objektiv hat nicht wirklich genug Auflösung bei der hohen Objektvergrößerung, die erforderlich ist, um den Rahmen auszufüllen.)

Description: Found August 1997. Cryolite is rare at MSH. Large xls are often heavily coated and look opaque (although they are usually transparent on the inside). Small pseudo-octahedral xls are relatively sharp and sometimes transparent. This xl fluoresces pale blue-white (SW) which is typical for MSH cryolite. (However, it's very tiny, and my scope deosn't really have enough resoultion at the high objective magnifiaction required to fill the frame.)
