Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bruntsfield Links This open parkland, the former Burgh Muir, vies with Leith Links for the honour of being the oldest ground on which golf was played in Edinburgh. One authority gives the year 1579 as the first mention of golf at Bruntsfield. Leith Links is first mentioned in 1593, but could, of course, be older and was a proper links (grass and sand-dunes). Bruntsfield is now a pitch-and-putt course owned by the City Council. The Barclay Church, built in the early 1860s, can be seen in the background.
