Summary[edit]
DescriptionBlack Mountain Tower at moon-set.jpg |
English: The Black Mountain Tower in Canberra occulting the moon.
I spent a lot of time researching the moon's movement and planning where to be for the shot I was looking for, to the extent that I wrote my own software to help 'simulate' what a shot will look like in advance to reduce the uncertainty of position and time for the 'perfect' shot. This one is apart of series I took of the moon behind interesting buildings from different angles, distances and times of day. When viewing through a 500 mm lens , the time available to take the shot in the perfect position is surprisingly short, this one was the perfect position, but I didn't have time to adjust for a portrait shot, so I had to settle for a slightly cropped tower.
