Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bench end in St Andrew's Church, Sutcombe, Devon, showing arms of Speccot of Speccot in the parish of Merton, Devon: Or, on a bend gules three millrinds argent. dated c.1525/50, based on others in the church relating to identifiable persons and marriages, where impaled. It is not clear what connection the Speccot family had with Sutcombe. Humfry Speccot was twice Sheriff of Devon, in 1583 and 1584, so the arms, if in fact of this later date, may be a sign of respect to that office.
