  • Significance: Woodruff Place was platted as a residential area in 1872. It is an early example of city planning designed to bring beauty into a residential area by means of landscaped esplanades, cast iron statuary and fountains, and regulated set backs. It continues to function today as a residential area with no commercial structures.
